London, Aug. 23.

It is learned that the British Cabinet Imperial Defence Council, presided over by the former Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, has approved the acceleration of redistribution and reinforcement of

military forces in territories adjacent to Ethiopia and

elsewhere in Africa.

The Royal Air Force has received full instructions: of the course to be adopted in the event of serious trouble, while the Admiralty has been instructed to hasten the massing of the strongest British naval forces in the Mediterranean ever assembled there.

The headquarters of this powerful fighting force will be at Malta, which is less than 100 miles from Cicily, and which is strongly defended. The force for the Malta base will include five battleships, several battle: cruisers, and a large number of smaller vessels.
