MUSSOLINI PLANS PLANE VISIT TO AFRICA
Rome, Aug. 10. R is anticipated that Signor Mussolini will pay a lightning visit to Italian Somaliland and Eritrea by aeroplane at the end of August for the purpose of making speeches to the troops before they go into battle.
In addition to the aeven army divisions already mobilized for colonial service, six divisions of the faithful Blackshirts have been call- ed to the colours.
These are mostly men of ages from between 35 and 65, and In- clude many business men, but all are militarily trained.
Theoretically they are volunteers, and they are leaving their wives | and families resignedly, and with a sense of responsibility for Italy's
future.

STATEMENT
A meeting of the Hongkong Sil- ver Jubilee Committee is to bo hold in the Legislative Council Cham- ber at 5.16 p.m. on Tuesday next, when a report on the winding up of the celebrations will be consider- ed.
The report shows that the total expenditure was $43,910.56, com- pared with an estimate of $62,150, The charitable collection amount- ed to $7,138,01.
Jubileo medals were sold to the public as follows: Silver medals at $1.25 each, 1,000; allver medals at $10 each, 51; gold medals at 12 guineas each. 14; and one gold medal at fifty guineas.

Imports from countries of the British Commonwealth represent- ed 40 per cent, of the total importa in the first six months of this year. compared with 38.8 per cent, in the same period of 1934, while ex- ports to British countries amount- ed to 46.5 per cent, of the total, against 45.1 per cent. FUNERAL, HELD IN ROMAN CATHOLIC CEMETERY
A large gathering of friends at tended the funeral of the late Mr. Frederiep Alberto Maria Barretto, which took place at the Roman Catholle Cemetery, Happy Valley, yesterday afternoon. The late Mr. Barretto died at the Canossa Hos pital on Thursday at the age of 82. from blood poisoning.
The Rev. Father Rossi officiated at the graveside, aasiated by the Rév. Father Spada and the. Rev. Father Rosello.
