LEVANSKY COMPELLED TO RETURN

Moscow, Aug. 4, Lovansky and his two com- panions took off for San Francisca via the North Pola at 6 a.m. on August 3, and were farewelled by high members of the Soviet Government.

The single motorod plane has long tapering wings and a short gray fuselaga. It carried a stove to be used in the event of the plane being forced down in the Arctic wastes.

Forty weather observation posts have been established in the Aretic to aid the fliers.

The plane, Asymphent 25, took off in heavy rain. However, it encountered clear weather after 100 kilometres, and is expected to arrive at San Francisco within 70 hours. United Press.

A 17-year-old youth named Ng Sham, unemployed, appeared before Mr. Macfadyen at the Central Magistracy on Saturday on a charge of possession of a forged $50 bank- note of the Chartered Bank on July 20.
