Declarer continues with the ten of clubs, discarding another dla- mond from dummy, East also dis- carding diamond. Hoping for

a heart break, the king of hearts is led; but Weat shows out, dis- carding the eight of hearts.

East now has a tenace position Do- over the dummy's hearts. clarer switches and leads the three of spades, West plays low, dummy plays the nine, East winning with the jack.
