San Francisco, August 1. The American Indian airman, Wiley Post, with his wife, took off on a flight across the top of the world to-day, heading for Moscow, via the North Pole.

He will fly non-stop to Seattle where the machine will be fitted with pontoons for its hop across the Behring Sea.

Defendant pleaded guilty to stealing 24 lbs, and denied one charge. His plea was accept- ed and he WAS sentenced to a total of six months' hard labour.

Detective Sergeant Baldwin, prosecuting, stated that on the morning of May 2, complainant hung his coat up in the office. In the coat was a sum of $200. When complainant took his coat a little while later, the money had disappeared, and so had defend ant. On July 31. detective received. certain information, as a result of which he went to Wan- chal, and there found defendant, who admitted taking the money. He told the police that he had spont it all in Canton.
