An Interesting adaptation of the most up-to-date services of the Post Office, for the purpose of speeding up the work of the Labour Ministry's employment exchanges, was Inaugurated yes terday...
To enable thirty-one exchanges in the area of London, which has a population of insured workers estimated at two and a half millions, and contains some 83,900 employers, to circulate among themselves as rapidly as possible notifications of vacancies received at any one exchango, a teluprinter ayatom designed by the Post Office Engineering Department has been installed, which links the Central Clearing House with each branch.
The new system should enable vacancies to be filled within a few hours of notification.
The Ministry has over twelve hundred branch exchanges throughout the country and last year filled 2,300,000 vacancies.
