BOWLS INTERPORT

Shanghai To Come Down In October

Arrangements for the forthcoming Interport Bowls matches against Shanghai were made by the Council of the Hongkong Lawn Bowls Association at a meeting held yester- day evening.

Mr. II. Nish, President of the A*- nociation

was in the chair and was supported by Mr. C. B. Hosking (Hoa. Secretary), Mr. G. E. F. Thompson (Hon. Treasurer), and members of the Council.

The Hon. Secretary informed the meeting that according to his cal- culations the League would be com pleted by September 14, provided rain did not further interfere with the programmes on Saturday.

lio sug gested, therefore, that they should write to Shanghai asking them to send a team down in the first week of October. This, he said, would leave two Saturdays free in Caso the weather hold up progrows in the local -League.

The meeting agreed to the sug gestion.

A

With regard to the appointment of Selection Committoo, Mr. Hosking suggested that the Association should give this body full powers to select any player they ilked instead of adopt- ing the old system of asking the various clubs to recommend”· four players each.

Seconded by Mr. F. J. Jones, of the Civil Service C.C., the proposal was passed unanimously.

It

was also agreed that three matches will be played, as usual.

SELECTION COMMITTEE

The following were appointed to the Selection Committee: Messrs. H. Nish, C. B. Hosking. F. J. Jones, J. V. Ramsay, U, M. Omar, F. X. M, da Silva, and C. J. Tnechi.

As two matches were played in Hongkong and one in Kowloon dur ing the inat Interport series in the Colony, it was agreed that two should be played in Kowloon and que in Hongkong this year.

The two matches in Kowloon will he pinyed on the Club de Recrulo and Club the Kowloon Bowling Green greens, and the Hongkong enrounter on the tilvil Service

C.C. Kree

The Craigengower C., Taikoo R.C. and the Hongkong F.C. geens were alan nuggested for Hongkong. but it was pointed out that the Craigongower had a match in 1933. while Talkoo would be rather out of the way for an Interport game.

In view of the fact that Civil Eer- vice C.C. was

was in a central locality and the green in good condition, this club was selected as the venue for the Hongkong match,

The first match will be played on. the Club de Recreio green, the second on the Civil Service C.C, green and the third and final match on the Kowloon

Green Club green.

The Kowloon malch will be played on the Kowloon Dock green: Shanghai-Victorin match on the Craigengewer GC, green; and the Shanghai-Serond Division match on the Taikoo R.C, green.

It was agreed that a charge of $1, including tax, will be made in the Interport matches.
