n spade. He can probably squeeze the hand with the ace and king of spadea. On that he will discard two clubs-the ace of clubs then would became a bothersome card, so the declarer leads the ace of clubs from dummy at once, de- liberately setting up West's king.

The eight of spades is returned from dummy, West discards the nine of hearts, declarer overtakes with the jack of spades and leads the king of spades. East follows, dummy discards the. five of clubs and West the jack of clubs. The ace of spades is led by declarer, dummy discarding the seven of clubs and West is squeezed by the play known as the Vienna coup. If he discards the king of clubs, declarer's queer will be good, while if a diamond is discarded
