SANITARY BOARD

FRUIT PRESERVING

DISCUSSION

An application for a food preserv ing licence at 441 Cantle Peak Rond. LOL No. 1688, was rofaned by four votes to three at the fortnightly meet- ing of the Sanitary Board held yes- terday afternoon, presided over by Mr. W. J. Carric.

The Presllent said it was n quer. tion of the surface where the fruit is laid out to dry. The Colonial Veterin- ary Surgeon and the Medical Officer of Health had recommended that the ground surface be waterproof, and the Select Committee had recommended that a smoothly beaten ground was better than having it thinly cemented which renderi t liable to cracking.
