VERDICT OF GUILTY IN MALLET MURDER CASE
London, May 31.
Tense scenes were witnessed at. the Assizes at Bournemouth to- day when George Percy Stoner was found guilty of the murder of Francis Mawson Rattenbury, 67, and was sentenced to death. Mrs. Alma Victoria Rattenbury, also charged with the murder of her husband, was acquitted,

The case, which became one of the most sensational in recent times, was known as the "Mallet Murder Case."
Rattenbury, was a retired archi- tect, was found at the Villa Madeira, in Manor Road, Bourne- mouth in the early hours of March 25 with head injuries from which he died in a nursing home a few days later.
Stoner, who was aged 19, wes the Rattenbury chauffeur.

The Judge in his summing up. which lasted three and a half hours, when referring to Ratten- bury said that according to Mrs. Rattenbury he was a mari com- plainant who did not object to hin wife's misconduct.
Referring to Més. Kattesbury his lordship remarked.
"You can- not possibly have any feeling ex- cept disgust for her, but beware that you do not convict her of this crime because she is an adalteress, you may think of the most unpleasant typ.

As regards Stoner the Judge said: "Whatever your verdiet may be his position is due to the domination of this woman. There is only one persen. who knows whether Stoner habitually took coenine, and that is Stoner him- self. He prefers not to give evidence."
The Judge directed, the jury that there was no evidence upon which they could conclude that Stoner. if guilty, was insune at the time.
After less than an hour's de- beration the jury found Mrs. Itaitonbury not guilty and Stoner "guilty," with a recommendation to mergy.
The Judge passed death sentence in the usual naanner and said thaf. the recommendation would be con veyed to the proper quarter.
Both prisoners heard their fate unmoved.--Beuter,
