ROTARY CLUB AND GOVERNOR
SINCERE TRIBUTE
PAID
As the following latter shows, the Rotary Club of Hongkong has pada warp tribute to II.E. Sir Wiliam Peol for his interest in making Hongkong a friendly meet'ng pince for all races:
Kotary Club of Hongkong,
May 16, 1935."

Dear Mr. Pilcher,
The list of achievements during His Excellency the Governor's term of office which was rend out
by the Hon. Sir Henry Pollock at the public meeting of farewell on Tuesday was extensive, and lay Excellency remarked that he was "not so presumptuous as to claim the whole or even the greater part of the credit due".

WORLD BESET BY DANGERS
(Continued from Page 1.) Including Germany, as the basis for any future convention,
IMPOSSIBLE BASIS.
Years ago, when he visited Berlin, Rome and Paris, this principle of parity between the thres Western Continental Powers was nowhera disputed. Germany then asked, however, that her figure should not be 200,000, but 300,000. If the German Govern ment now maintained its need for 550,000, it must be clear that at such
very high figure parity between the three Western Con timental Powers on an equal basis of training was frankly unattain Ahle
He appreciated that, in the view of the German Government, this figure was justified by her nuxieties in Eastern Europe. He proceeded, therefore, to examine the altuntion there.
Nevertheless, the members. the Rotary Club feel that (here was an important emission from Sir Henry Pollock's list and that in this case Sir William Peel had never been in a country which
entitled to "s great part of the credit due". Had it not been for His Excellency's keen interest and support, when Rotorian Jim Davidson visited the Colony in December, 1930, for the purpose of attempting the organisation of a Rotary Club, it is likely that the effort would have been, as on two previnus occasions, abortive.
That the need-which several Governors of Hongkong have emphasised-for a friendly meet ing place for all, races in this cosmopolitan community Je, now being met, and that the Rotary Club has become ro firmly established, is surely not the least of the results of His Excelleney's term of office, and it is one in which he had a definite part.
The members of the Rotary Club request you to convey to Hs, EX: relaney the Governor their thanks and appreciation of his interest and help. They wish him and Lady Peel every happiness in retirement.
Yours sincerely.
