GENIUS OF MISS J. WETHERED

"Come Backs" Of Famous Golf Players

(By "M. W." IN THE OBSERVER)

London, April 21.

Two of the world's most famous golfers—Miss Wethered and R. T. Jones-have recently attempted what, in sporting language, is known as a "come back." In the case of the woman it succeeded, and in the other it failed rather dismally. Miss Wothored has falsified the generali- sation that there is never a "come back” for champions who have retired.

In view of the contract into which she has entered to visit America nexe month to play exhibition matches with and against famous players, both ment and women, her recent encounter with J. McLean, one of the foremost golfers in this country, is of considerable in-l terest. For this tour Miss Wethered in to receive £40 per match of one] round, plus a percentage of the gate: receipts.
