H. E. THE GOVERNOR GIVES TABLETS TO GUILDS, Expressing the official apprecia tion of the Chinese processions in the Silver Jublice celebration, Is Excellency the Governor, Sir William Peel, will give, four wooden tablets to each of the Fish- mongora Guld, the Butchers' Guild and, the Poultry Dealors" Guild.
The three guilds wore respon- alble for the presentation of the various dragons and numerous other features to the processions. The fourth tablet will be given to the Li Woo Lok Tong troupe the manipulators of the multi-coloured dragon. This troupe is considered to be the best among the bands of dragon bearers,
Similar in size but different In their wording, each of these wooden tableta la beautifully act up with Chinese characters of gold against a striking background of dark blue with suitable Inscriptions of appreciation by His Excellency the Governor. On each tablet is Bet also the name of the distinguished donor and the res- pective recipients.
Each of the tablets measures about nine feet by three feet. They have been sent to the Office of the Secretary for Chinese Affaire. It is understood that they may be presented to the various gulles by the Hon. Mr. N. L. Smith on behalf of His Ex- cellency the Governor.
Organisers of the Chinese pro- cessions have given a few small symbolic figures made of paper, takon from the tableaux in the Chinese procession, to Lady Peel, no souvenirs of the auspicious occasion.
Dragon Display
Thousands of spectatore word thrilled at the South China Athletic Association ground, Caroline Hill, on Saturday night when the Guuzo Dragon and Silver Dragon, which had taken part in the extensive Jubileo celebrations earlier in the week, participated in a spectacular display which termingled with a striking combat between the two dragons.
It was the lest opportunity of seeing these unique croations: and in apito of the parades through the Colony streets on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday last week, tho crowds were excited as ever at the sight of the display.
