TREASURY CHIEF TO EXPLAIN

GROWING GOLD STOCKS CAUSE COMPLICATION

Washington, May 12.

Financial circles and businessmen are expecting Mr. Morgenthau's broadcast to-morrow to include, some important announcement regarding the monetary policy:

This is due to the alleged inability of the Treasury to carry out the United States Congress silver purchase mandate in the face of the soaring, gold stocks which are at present at the highest value in history, which is around eight billion dollars.

The Treasury has announced that the broadcast will be nation-wide at 11 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and that the subject of the speech will be "The American Dollar."

Purchases of gold are increasing rapidly, and for this reason the.

silver programme is considered AIR FLEET

Imponsible.

Recently silver prices abroad have drastically declined and be cause of this competent observers regard it as being very possible that Mr. Morgenthau will announce a plan to solve the silver problem and also to put an

MARSHAL PILSUDSKI DIES SUDDENLY

With the death of Marshal Joseph Pilsudski, War Minister and Dictator of Poland, announced to-day, it was feared that some political crisis might arise. The Government, however, having appointed a temporary War Minister, and having recently put into force the new Constitution which Pilsudski himself approved, feels confident in its strength.

The President has issued a proclamation calling upon the nation to remember "this man, the greatest our history has ever known," and to make the most of his legacy. All Poland is in deepest mourning.

It was a remarkable coincidence that the Marshal died on the ninth anniversary of his historic putsch, by which he took control of the country and stabilised the Government. Members of his family and his Cabinet were, at his bedside when he died..
