Ten Chinese lost their lives, it is believed instantaneously, when 6,000 tins of oil, gasoline and asphalt aboard a junk of which they were in charge exploded at Tsun Wan at 6.30 am. to-day with a ter rific report heard for several miles around.
For a few terrifying moments it was feared that the plant of the Texas Company would be involved with the huge stores of combustible fuel stored there, but, thanks to a favourable wind and tide, the shat tered bulk of the junk drifted further into the bay away from the works.

Recrived. May 11, 10 a.m.j
London, May 10. Apparently a large-scale war is looming in Abyssinia.
The Abyssinian Government is threatening full mobilisation unless Italy ceases making preparations for war Italy has at the present moment 710,000 Fascist militia, and 75,000 carabineers under arins. But Italy has only 100,000 fighting men in Africa.--- United Press.
Italy charges that Abyssinia has already mobilised to a large extent and that she is receiving arms from Germany, in contravention of the Treaty of 1930, whereby nations agreed to control the supply of arms sent to Ethiopia. Italy has made representa- tions to France and Britain in this connection, it is reported by Reuter.
