The following faterchange of letters has taken place between M. H. Van der Straeten, Doyen of the Consular Body In Hongkong and Its Excellency the Governor, Sir William Prel.

The Canton Chamber of Com- merce has written a letter address- ed to the British Consulate ant the Britich Chamber of Commerce In Shameon thanking them for their kind invitation to participato in the celebration of the King's Jubilee at a Garden Party in Hong- kong but the Chamber of Com merce very much regrets not being able to attend the said party in Hongkong, ВЛУА the Canton Gazette.

By permission of Lt. Col. E. J. de Boys, M.C., and Officers, the Band of the 1st. Btn., Tho Lincoln- ahiro Regiment, played selectlons prior to the screening of the film. Remarkable scenes were witnessed when the Band played "Land of Hope and Glory", the entire audience standing and joining in the refrain.

Garrison Children

All the children attending the Garrison Schools, together with their parents, are being enter- tained by the Military authoritics on Thursday evening on the Chat- ham Road football ground, the occasion being marked by the pre- sentation to each child of a special. “Silver Jubilee mug.

Excellency the General Officer Commanding will be pre- sent and will be accompanied by alicers of the China Command.

After tea has been served the children and their parents will be entertained from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. by the band of the East Lancashire Regiment, a party of entertainers from II.M.S. Suffolk and Chinese conjurors. They will also march past and Salute the Union Jack.
