London, Apr: 12. On stages up and down these tales more than 600 amateur drama- tic. societies have just entered on Great Britain's biggest non-stop "orgy" of play-acting which will continue until the beginning of Junc

Thousands of would-be amateur Irvings and Duses from all parts of the country are giving their aspira- tions a ride in an all-Britain com- petition for the Howards de Walden Cup, presented annually to the best amateur dramatic society in the country. During the next fow months the competition will pro- gress by divisional and area, steps on the knock-out principle until the one of the five finalists clash in London theatres in the first week of June.
