Now let us consider the last eln- quent the squeeze lead-in the Tapel formula.

After you have accurately de- veloped the first four elements in the Tapel formula and you have placed your opponent in a squeeze position, you must be able to make a lead that will squeeze him. This is always the lead of a suit of which the opponent to be squeezed in void, thereby forcing him to discard.

Since your opponent's hand con- tains only control cards over your two threats, he is compelled to dis eard one of these controls, auto- matically transforming one of your thrent cards into a winner. This is exactly what happens in every | squecze.

In the example above, South louds the spade seven at the 11th trick. Since West holds no spades, he is compelled to discard either the club jack or the diamond jack. No matter which of these he chooses to drop, he will automatic. ally establish an extra winner for: the declarer.

When the squeeze is properly executeil, the opponent is helpless.! He cannot prevent creation of an! extra trick for the declarer.
