Magistrates Ordinance The Attorney General moving the first reading of a Bill to amend the Magistraten Ordinance, 1932. said: The amendment effected by this ! will provide

a simple alternative method of appealing against any decision of a Magis- trate and the provisions follow very closely those of the English Act.

موری

The Colonial Secretary seconded and the Bill was read a first time.

The second reading of the "Stump Amendment Ordinance, 1935" was moved by the Attorney General, and seconded

the -Colonial Secretary.

During the committen stage, the Attorney General moved an amend- ment to Clauso 9 which would exempt payment of duty on suma not exceeding $20. Receipts, for $20 or less do not require a duty under head 36 and there seems no

special reason why they should not have the same exemption under heading 33. If this Council ap proves an amendment to that effect' it could be moved after the second reading.

The Colonial Secretary seconded, and this was agreed to.

The third reading was postpon-

ed to enable the amendment to be published In the Government Gazette.

The Ordinance to Amend and Consolidate the Law relating to the Construction of Buildings passed through its final stiges.

Council then adjourned untu Thursday, April 18.
