Danzig, April 7. The Nazis' fight to obtain a two-thirds majority vote in the Diet élections seemed to-day to be doomed to fail, although final figures indicate that they had increased their aggregate vote by about 30,000, com- pared to the 1933 returns.

The Supreme Council of National Defence to-day heard reports from M. Lával, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and the Ministers of War, Navy and Air, after which it was decided to ask the Cabinet to issue a decree to-morrow maintaining temporarily at least half the conscripts in the French Army, totalling 110,000 men, instead of liberating them in late April.
Meanwhile, three army corps have been despatch- ed to the German frontier forts.
