PROTESTS AGAINST EXCHANGE ACTION

SUGGEST COMMITTEE OVER-STEPS RIGHTS

A feeling of resentment was apparent in Ice House Street this morning among certain members of the Hongkong Stock Exchange regarding the decision of the Committee, published in the Telegraph yesterday in regard to the insertion of distinctive numbers of shares bought or sold in contract notes.

So great is the feeling in some quarters that a protest is being sent to the Committee to-day to the effect that the action of the Committee is contrary to the Articles of the Exchange.

Several members voiced the opinion when up- proached by the Telegraph representative that the action was rather high-handed," and that an ample opportunity was not given to members to consider the matter carefully from all angles.

One member dealt with the legal position and pointed out that the Keswick ordinance was passed in 1891
