Baron von Neurath, the Reichsminister for Foreign Affairs, interviewed by the United Preus to-day, de- clared that the discussions, between Sir John Simon, British Foreign Minister, and Herr Hitler, designed to make possible a greater measure of security from war, would unquestionably profit all the nations of Europe. Germany was hopeful of a successful issue to the conversations, he said.
The German Government, said Baron von Neurath, anticipates the visit of the British Foreign Minister, who will be accompanied by Mr. Anthony Eden, Lord Privy Seal, with interest and satisfaction.-United Press.

EARLY MORNING ATTACK SUCCESSFUL

H.Q. China Command. With the front line defences being gradually driven back to the hilltops on the south east side of the Island, the final orders for reserve units to be rushed into action in the launching of a strong counter-attack on the Bluelanders who were strongly entrenched on Stanley Peninsula were issued from General Head- quarters this morning at 7.45 a.m. '
Throughout last night defenders and the Blueland forces, which managed to effect landings, were engaged in hand-to-hand fighting with heavy casualties report- ed on both sides.
From shortly after 2 am., when the concentrated attack was made the defenders stuck to their positions until the last moment, but under the weight of superior numbers they were forced to retreat up the slopes and adopt guerilla warfare tactics.
