II. do Carvalho, a former Hong- kong realdent, who was awarded a bronze medal in the International Photographic Exhibition hold in Melbourne under the auspices of the Victorian Salon of Photo- graphy.

The exhibition Was world-wide character, no fewer than 32 countrics participating, and as many as 1,200 prints were submitted, of which only 300 were found to be of sufficient merit to be hung on the walls.
Mr. Carvalho, who is the IIon, Secretary of the City Bank Club, Shanghai, in a brother of Mrs. H. A. Castro, wife of Mr. H. A Castro, of Messrs. Loxley & Com pany, Hongkong.
A keen an enthusiastic photo graphor, Mr. Carvalho has had his pictures accepted and exhibited by the Royal Photographic Society of London, of which he is a mem ber: also at the Camera Club of New York, and other photographic organisations in Scotland and the continent of Europe, and his plc tures were printed In thoir journals. Hia recent success is the highest he has earned in ble career.

MISSION
LANCASHIRE VISIT PLANNED
London, Mar. 12. It is understood that the mission of economic enquiry which the Egyptian Government is despatch- ing to the United Kingdom on the Invitation of the British Govern- ment will arrive in London on April 4.
The Mission will bo headed by Hafiz Anh Pasha-formerly Egyptian Minister in London— and will consist of four other members and a small expert staff. After staying in London for week as guests of His Majesty's Government, they will visit Lan- cashiro and other industrial día- tricts which are of importance to Anglo-Egyptian trade.

CASHIER CHARGED
ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT OF DANK'S FUNDS
The theft of $27,454.10 from the Hin Kee Bank, No. 61 Bonham Strand East, was alleged against Fung Kl-son, 43, a former cashler. when he appeared before Mr. E. I. Wynne-Jones at the Central Magla- tracy yesterday afternoon. The complainant was Ng Hal-po, manager of the bank.
Mr. F. H. Loseby appeared for the prosecution.
For the defence, Mr. T. P. K. Kemble said it was not denied that defendant received the money with the knowledge of the bank and it was merely a loan. The bank had brought this action to get the money back.
Mr. Loseby sald that defendent had been employed as cashier for about six years. The
