Splendid bowling by Lt. C. a. Garthwaite and C. & 1. Elvin caused the collapse of the Volunteers in both their innings, and enabled the United Services to win by 119 runs in the two-day fixture which was concluded on the Hongkong Cricket Club ground yesterday.
R. H. Grimtha made a valiant effort to save his side, and his score of 65 was the result of a polished lanings, early the best in the match.
When the Volunteers resumed their first innings yesterday, Lt. Garthwaito ran through the side, and finished up with the excollent figure) of six wickets for 24 runs.
