S'HAI MARKET REPORT
EXCHANGE FIRM EARLY
EASES TOWARD CLOSE
(Special to "Talograph”)
Shanghai, Feb. 18. The Foreign Exchange Market here is firm at. 10.00 a.m.
The Monetary Advisory Com- mitteo's recommendations to the Ministry of Finance regarding the silver export tax have been bullishly interpreted, inasmuch as to restore aro calculated they confidence.
Some well-informed circles, how- do not believe that the netion ever, recommended by the Committee would result in silver imports.
It is pointed out that Shanghai silver. is still far below the London parity owing to the recent rise in London prices. Forward exchange rates are showing a tendency to rise still further.
