AMAZING TALE OF

ESPIONAGE

PROMINENT GERMAN WOMEN INVOLVED

LIKELY TO DIE UNLESS HITLER INTERVENES

Berlin, Feb. 17.

The story of an alleged espionage plot in Germany, for which it is expected a number of prominent persons, including a Polish officer, Baron Sosnowsky, Baroness. von Berg, Frau von Natzner and others, will die, was revealed here to-day following the trial of the accused. before a secret People's Court.

The accused were charged with selling Germany's mobilisation plans to a foreign power, and were accused of high treason.

Some quarters believe Baroness von Berg and Frau Natzner will certainly be executed.

CHINA IN SEARCH OF SILVER

LIKELY TO REMOVE RE-EXPORT TAX

RECOMMENDATION SENT TO FINANCE MINISTRY

.

(SPECIAL TO "TELEGRAPH")

In an effort to encourage the importation of silver into China, it is learned from reliable sources in Shang- hai that the Monetary Advisory Committee has passed a resolution to recommend the Ministry of Finate to permit duty free re-export of silver any time following the lapse of three months after importation.

It is also reported that the Ministry is likely to approve of the resolution and that they will possibly announce the decision on Sunday, February 17, although this report has not been officially confirmed, says United Press.

It is said that such a move would constitute an in- vitation to foreign banks to import the white metal and thus serve to relieve the existing money tightness, especially British banks who are maintaining branch offices in Hongkong, although it is widely questioned whether the objective would be accomplished.
