DIRECTORS' REPORT
*FOR 1994
The report of the Directors of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation for the year ended Doc ember 31, 1934, statos that the not profits for the year, together with $3,462,728.10, balance brought forward from lont account, after paying all charges, deducting interest paid and due, and making provision for badi and doubtful accounts and contingen- cles, amount to $10,407,425.40.
The Directors recommend writing: of Bank Premises Account the sum of $1,000,000.
After making this transfer, doduct- Ing the interim dividend of £3 per share, paid on 13th. August last, eiz:-£480,000 @ 1/5%$4,490,140.- 86, and remuneration to Directors, there remains for appropriation $8,014,213.50, out of which the Direc tors recommend the payment of aį jinal dividend of 53 por Bhare, viz. | £480,000 which, at 1/8, the rate of
the day, will absorb $5,019,612,20.
The balance $3,294,701.30 to be carried to New Profit and Loss Ac- count.
The sterling equivalents of the anmots and liabilities are shown at 1/8%, the rate ruling on the last day of the year.
Directors Mr. S. H. Dodwell has been elected Chairman for the year 1936, and Mr. C. C. Knight has been elected Deputy Chairman. The Hon. Mr. C. G. S. Mackie, Mr. G. Miskin{ and Mr. A. H.
Compton retire in rotation, but being eligible for election, offer themselves accordingly. Messrs. T. H. R. Shaw, J. J. Pater- son and J. P. Warren, having left the Colony, have resigned their seats and Messrs. C. C. Knight, W. J. Keswick and S. H. Dodwell have been elected to. All the vacancies.
Auditors.The accounts have been audited by Mr. John Fleming, CA. and Mr. II. R. Forsyth, C.A., who offer themselves for re-election.
SAAR CONTINGENT
TO VISIT RHEIMS AND PARIS
Landon, Feb. 13. The French Government, wishing to do special honour to the British and Balian delachments of the Saar International Force on their return from the Saar, have invited contingents of the two detachments: to break their homeward journey through France for 24 houra in order to visit Rheims and Paris.
