tongue in 2,325 Chinese schools located in 20 countries, territories and colonles outside of the home land.

Schools to meet the odvention requirements of Chinese are to be found on every continent and on many of the lalands. of the sen. The belief that "once a Chinese always a Chinese" in borne out in the way the Chinese school has followed the Chiness merchant. trader and seller to the farthest corners of the globe.

Heading the list of countries or places outside of China in number of Chinese schools is British Mainya, where 673 institutions of all grades and sizes teach the chil- dren of Ching to read and write the difficult characters which re- present the language of the world's most numerous people. The Brit- ish colony of Hongkong, the Nether- lands nat Indies, Burma, Siam, French Indo-China and the Philip- pine Islands follow, in order of the number of Chinese schools.

The Hawaiian Islands support 38 schools for Chinese children,,while on the North American mainland there are 17 schools In Canada and 31 in the United States. Further south, there is one school in Panama, and In South America, three in Peru. In Europe there are no schools open only to Chinese, and only one in Great Britain. South Afrlea has two Chinese schoola and Australia two. In Portuguese Indis. (Daman) there Is one institution and in British Indin three.

The Chinese residents of Japan support 11 schools for their Chil- dren, and those in Koren 14.- United Press.
