COMMUNISTS' RALLY TO CHALLENGE
RIVALS MUSTER WHILE VOTES ARE COUNTED
Saarbruecken, Jan. 15.
Rumour-ridden Saar had a culminating sensation in the early hours of this morning, while officials were counting the vote of the plebiscite, when, following a visit of Major Hennessey, British commander of the police force, and Herr Lei, local Police Chief, to the police barracks at Wartberg, reports rapidly spread about that communistically inclined policemen had planned a coup.
The rumour had it that the two ring-leaders of the police plot had fled to France on the scheme being dis- covered.
Major Hennessey, subsequently questioned, in- sisted that he and the local police chief had merely gone to the barracks to inspect the men's quarters.
