No finer game could have ushered in Hongkong'a 1935 football than yesterday's match between represen- tative teams of the Island and Mainland, which attracted a big crowd despite the unpleasant weather conditions, and which resulted in a draw of three goals-all.
Several alterations had to be made from the adver- tised teams, but as was forecast in these columns on Monday, the presence of reserves had no detrimental effect on the standard of football, which, in view of the fact the match immediately succeeded New Year Eve celebrations, was exceptionally high.
Starting off one short and re- moining thus for a long period in the first half, the Mainland were at first completely outplayed, but they staged a dazzling second-half recovery, coming from behind a three goals deficit, to square the score five minutes before the close.
