RETRACTING THREAT TO CRUSH FRANCE

WHEN PLEBISCITE IS COMPLETED

Paris, Dec. 26.

Le Journal, to-day, states that Herr Hitler will publicly retract the passage In his autobiography "Mein Kampf," in which he de clares that Germany must crush France as a step to pave the way to a resumption of diplomatic negotiations for solution of the present Franco-German disarma- ment impasse. He will make his retraction after the Saar plebiscite, the paper says.

It adds that Hier will explain that this passage was written Į during Л period of bitterness while he whs imprisoned in a fortress following an unsuccessful attempt at a Naai rising ten years ago and when French troops were; in occupation of the Ruhr.

in "Mein Kampf" Hitler says more than once that the destruc- tion of France is a means to an end, not an end in itsolf.

SCHEME TO OVERTHROW STALIN'S REGIME

(By Telegraph. Copyright, Telegraphic Messages Ordinance, 1894. Received, Dec. 27, 8.30 am.)

Moscow, Dec. 26.

It is officially announced that thirteen of the four- teen men arrested for the murder of the Leningrad official, Kirov, have confessed to membership in a "terrorist group" organised in the old capital. But only three men, Nikolayev, Antonoff and Zvezdov have admitted planning the assassination of Kirov.

Testimony before the prosecutor at Leningrad was of a most sensational nature.

Nikolayev stated that the terriorists planned the murder of Stalin, also, and added that he had negotiated with an unnamed Consulate in Leningrad for military intervention from abroad if the plotters' coup succeeded.
