The fortnightly meeling Sanitary Board was held yesterday in the boardroom with Mr. W. J. Carrie, the President, In the chair.

Others present were the Hon. Mr. R. M. Ilonderson. Vice-President, Mr. N. L. Smith, Secretary for Chinese Affairs, Dr. G. W. Fone, Medient Officer of Health, Mr. Wong Kwong- tin. Mr. M. K. Lo, Mr. F. C. Hall, Mr. L. C. F. Bellamy, Dr. LI Shu- fan, Dr. R. A. do Castro Basto, Mr. C. D. Roc, secretary, and Mr. Im Ping-tecung, assistant secretary.

Mr. Hall asked for information as

(a) The number of matsheds and other almilar structures situated on the northern hillside At kanchai Gapi

(b)The purposes for which, and by whom, och structures have been erected?

(c) Whother. the structuron serve a necessary purpose, and, if whether they cannot be replaced by more permanent and less unsight- ly buildings

(d). Whether any of the struc. tures are utilised for the purpose of living quarters by workmen or others, rine, how many such persons are necomimidated therein?

(c) What Sanitary arrangements, If any, are provided or are avaliable for the occupants of such structures? Mr. Carrie said he was indebted to the Hon. Director of Public Works for the facta in the following replies:

(a).The number is twelve, (b). There are four groups natsheds and they were erected by the Public Works Department, the To Copstruction Company, the Man On Company and the Tak Sing Company respectively.
