Mayor Wu Teh chen, of the Shanghai City Guvernment, was the central figure at the ceremony opening the Park Hotel. He first cut the ribbon at the main entrance, thus officially opening the hostelry, and was then presented with a huge golden key to the establishment. This photograph, taken in the main dining room immediately following the presentation, shows Mayor Wu at the right with the key. In the contra le Dr. Y. M. Chien, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors, who presented the token, and on the left is Dr. C. T. Wang, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is a Director of the hotel.
