STOLE CASE OF DYNAMITE

TWO MEN SENT TO PRISON

Yu Keo, a stone driller, and Lam Shing, earth coolie, were charged before Mr. W. Schofield, at the Central Magistracy this morning, with having broken and entered. dynamite store No. 111 at Lan Nol Won and stolen a case of dynamite, the property of Tai Chun, foreman of the Tai Ynu Keo firm of con- tractors, on December 11. Defen- dants pleaded guilty.

Inspector Logan said the incident took place where the now catch- water is being made near Lan Nei Wan. A watchman was on duty along with another on the morning of December 8 when they heard à nolae, and one of them went out to investigate. He was hit on the head three times with A bamboo pole. A report was made to the police; and it was then discovered that one case of dynamite was atolen. The first defendant was arrested on December D, and gave information which led to the arrest of the second defendant. They admitted taking part in the robbery, but denied having asanult- ed the watchman. The watchman was in hospital for three days, but his injuries were not serious. Two other men, whom the police belloved to be the ring-leaders, were at large. The dynamite, valued at $36, was ant recovered.

Mr. Schofield ordered ench dofen- dant to pay $16 compensation, to the watchman or go to prison for three weeks' hard labour in default, and also sentenced them to six weeks each, the sentences consecutive.
