WHAT'S SHOWING IN

LONDON

London, Nov. 13. ·

It is stated that British films are going colour crazy. Probably £1,- this 000,000 has been spent in country in the past two years in colour film research and tests. And now, at last, the studios are con- Odent they are going to see their money back. B.I.P. are first in the field. They have just completed two important scenes of their "Radio Parade of 1936" in Dufay- colour. The virtue of this British system is that the colour is register- ed on one negative and appears in the developing. The added cont of film-making by this process ЯOCA almost entirely in the extra light- ing required in the studio.

London Films have adopted the Hillman Colour Gravure process, sponsored by Gerrard Industries. Mr. Alexander Korda has joined the bourd of Gerrard's, and hopes to start his colour film career next year with "Lawrence of Arnbla." A. D. Hillman, the inventor is an optical mathematician. He has spent five years and more than £50,- ORG €12 the process. Colour is obtained by the use of filters on black and white fim. It is claimed that the only additional cost to this system is in the royalties on the patent.

Gaumont British are still spend- ing at least £10,000 a year un test- ing and research. They are trying out systems at the rate of one a romantle of the month. Most British colour A processes is Cincealour. It In the result of twenty years' research, at a cost of £200,000 by Mr. S. J. Cox of Man-
