"FRESH FIELDS"
A.D.C. Score Another Big Success
to
Add'ng, yet another succras their already long list, the Hong- kong Amateur Dramatic Club presented "Frosh Fields" by Ivor Novello, at the China Fleet Club. Theatre last night. There was a large and appreciative audience prezent which included the Hon. Mr. R. E. Lindsell, President of the A. D. C.

A light comedy in three acts, "Fresh Fields," which was duced at the Criterion Theatre in January last year, is refreshing entertainment and a stimulant for the laughter neckers. In every line there in wit and humour,
The A. D. C. selected an ideal cant. Each of the, nine players was suited to his or her part and their acting was of a high quality which they sustained throughout the performance.
When the friends from Aux- tralia become the paying guests of Lady Mary Crabbe, much to the disgust of the romantic Lady Lan Bedworthy, the latter is in- aulted by the approaches of Tom Larcomb, an ex-públic house owner of Brisbane, but between gramb lng and crying she confesses "she liked it.' Then there is the romance between the clumsy Una Pidgeon and Tim Crabbe which calls for much laughter. Una in the type of girl that cannot enter or leav:n room without breaking nome of the china.
Of the playera, Fay Grossman, an old favourite on the local stage. once more displayed her grace of acting and charm in the role of Lady Mary Crabbe, while Beryl Gough, a newcomer to local amateur theatricals, distinguished Eerself with a splendid portrayal of Lady Lilian Bedworthy. She is of the wilting type and her poise and flow of line suited the rule admirably.
Much praise in due to Elleen Behamy, who in the role of Mra.44 Pidgeon, one of the three from 455 Australia, brought furth vocifer
aus laughter irons the house. Ber Australian accent was quite good and she acted with much verve.
Sheila Jeffries, also making her Grst appearance, delighted the au- dience with a clever portrayal of the clumsy Upa Pidgeon. Her future appearances will be looked forward to with much interest.

CHINESE CHORAL
SOCIETY
FINE PROGRAMME IN NEXT CONCERT
MEN'S WEAR
WHICH APPEALS TO THE GOOD TASTES OF THE WELL-DRESSED MAN
Simple
The Hongkong Chinese Choral Society's Accond concert is to take "MACCLEBOIL" place on Saturday, December 15, at 9 p.m. in University Great Hall. The Society was formed in January of this year and although the
choice of available music, then Was navessarily limited, a most successful concert was given on March 24. This concert was well supported and the audience en- thusiastic at the good singing and excellent spirit of the choir.
Once again Sir William Hornell, Vice Chancellor, has shown his kindly interest by granting the use of the Great fall of the University, and it is expected that the Society's Initial success will be exceeded.
The programme for this concert is of n much more ambitious character, but not only have the choir responded to the enthusiasm and Instruction of their Conduc- tor. Mr. J. Anderson Miller, L.R.A.M., but they have reached a state of emelenes which is not only commendable but admirabic. Section leaders have held in- dependent practices during the week and full rehearsala on Tues- day have brought about results which will be appreciated expecial- ly by those who understand the dieulties by which these Chinese singers are necessarily handl. capped.
Elizabethan music will ha represented by Thomas Morley's Ing." Wom Beale's madriynl ballet "Now is the Month of May- "Come Let Us Join the Rounde- ny", and John Dowland's beauti ful port-aong "Coma
