OCTOBER 16, 1934.

Aspirants to film fame have often wondered what they would do if they were suddenly taken from their normal occupation to a film studio to become the leading player in a ple fure. "Britannia of Billingsgato" a Gaumont British picture having its Initial showings. to-morrow at the Queen's Theatre has just such a atory. In this case the person who rockets to fame and fortune is woman who sells fish and chips in the Billingsgate market. Violet Loraine returns after a lengthy absenco from the world of entortalamont to make her talkie debut, and plays the role of the fish and chip vendor, with all that easy assurance and superb artistry that made her fantous on the stage. With her Is Gordon Harker an a oh market porter, who lemon- strates his special flair for Cockney character humour. His Billingsgato expressions, his rhyming slang, and his attempt to be a gentleman when fortuna comes his way, are facets of a characterization that sparkles with is reality. From start to finish the films is a riot of laughter which will be happily received by audience everywhere.
