While short met openings may work occasionally against a no trump contract, it still pays to attack no trumps with a long, strong sult, if you have side en tries.

But when you make an opening fead and the dummy goes down, you may be forced to change your whole plant of attack, and that is the fun of contract. There aomething new coming up with every hand.

But you hold a singleton din- mond, and if you play a low club, can't you sco that you may find yourself squeezed, with that long diamond suit in dummy staring you in the face?

The best plan of attack in this hand is to cash your ace of clube, and you will eventually make an- other club and a heart trick.

It will not defeat the contract, but if you lead a small club the declarer is going to get a squeeze on you, and an end play. He will throw you in and force you to lead away from your king of spades, and in this manner he will make four odd.
