'The Editor.
Hongkong Telegraph, Bir, The annual drive for financial support for carrying on the work of the Hongkong Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is being conducted this year between the 10th, and 20th. October, and letters of appent have been sent to donors and sub- Beribers who have so kindly sup- parted us in our work in the past. The General Committes fully appreciate that in these times or univoreal trade depression it is indeed most difficult for many people in the Colony, although keenly desirous of helping all de nerving causes, to meet the varl- ous calls that are now made upon at their charity and especially this season of the year. It is felt confident, however, from past ex- perlance, that those who are in terested in the welfare of animals will do their utmost again to give The Society their fullest support on this occasion. No work like CQD- ours can advance, or even tinue, without generous support from the public.
