PEAK ROAD DAMAGED BY LORRY

Driver Prosecuted By

Police Official

Mr. T. H. King, Deputy Inspec- tor General of Police, appeared as complainant in a traffic summons against Wong Ying-wai, driver of lorry No. 3098, summoned for having driven his lorry on Planta- tion Road, The Peak, which is a road closed to motor traffic, with- out a permit, before Mr. E. W. Hamilton, at the Central Magis tracy this morning.

Mak n, driver of lorry, No. 2818, was alta summoned for the same offence, and also for having enused damage to the road.

Mr. King said he thought there WAS genulno misunderstanding on the part of the two drivers, as they had been instructed to take manure to a house, but at the same time they were gravely ut fault in daring to go on that road. It was a very big risk for any driver without knowing where he was going on that rond.

Sanitary Inspector A. W. T. White, in the witness box, said he had given Instructions to the drivers that as soon as the wea ther permitted they were to get five tons of manure, up to the house as soon as possible. Usually, in such cases, when houseowners wanted manure, they furnished their own lorries, and the manure was taken up the road in baskets, but these two men did not know that..
