Shanghai, Sept. 11.. According to messages from Foochow, a serious incident, in- volving a number of Formosans, occurred last night apparently as a sequel of vigorous action by the local authorities in dealing with illegal gambling dene, most of which were kept by Formosans.

It is alleged that several Forms- Bans, concealing themselves in a building at Kiangtai Rond, threw three bomba ata squad of Chinese gendarmerie patrolling the street with the result that two gendarmes were wounded and four passers-by slightly wounded.
