The Roverend Fr. Bertin Ashness of the Maryknoll Mission, Hongkong and Kongmoon, sails by the Conti Verde today for a year's leave. While in Europe he will attend re- gious formalities at Paris in con- nection with Sister Samte Wingfrod, his sister, and will be present at

overal Missionary ceremonies.

From Europe, Dr. Ashness proceeds to America. and renews old acquain tances at the New York Seminary received his religious where ho education. He is the son of the lato Mr. and Mrs. James Clementine Ashness, his mother being the eldest sistor of Dr. Eugene de Souza of Hongkong.
