"War" News.

To the Editor,

:

Hongkong Telograph.

Sir Since rending the final etition of yesterday's issue of the Pelegraph I feel compelled to volce a protest against the ridiculous news Items which are apparently contributed by the correspondents of certain "Investment Brokera“ in the Colony.

Would not the appendage "War- mongora" be more applleable to Instigators of such unfounded and alarming nows?

Let them confine their journalis- tic efforts to ovente solely in their own aphore of activity, which un- fortunately already claims: too) much space in our local press, but please ask them to refrain from

discussing War, that selence of destruction, the magnitude and horror of which, I am sure, in beyond their conception. Similar thoughts were freely expressed by others.

PAX.

Morrison Centenary Sit-In connection with the Robert Morrison Centenary Com- memorations, this appeal to supple. ment the New Building Fund of the Alice Memorial and Nethersole Hospitals is launched in the hope it will meet with sympathetic approval and generous support of the public.

"Morrison

Robert Morrison, the first Pro- testant Missionury In China, was also the first to establish a dispen- sary to succour the sick and affing. This dispensary was the forerunner of Hospitals in China, and it seems appropriate that one of the fen- tures of the Centenary Cont memoration should be to aasist in the rebuilding of the Now Hos- pitals, and thereby identify a part of the building ns A Memorial."

The Allee Memorial and Nothersole Hospitals, and the work they do, are well known to the residents of Hongkong. Both directly and Indirectly," thene Institutions have well served the European communities, Inasmuch ns employees and servants and their dependents have in their many thousands received free treatment in them. The fact that the upkeep has been wall supported by annual subscriptions, encourages the hope this special appeal for rebuilding purposen will receive your generous consideration.
