ARMS EMBARGO

HOPE OF EFFECTIVE ACTION

London, July 28,

In the House of Commons, speaking on the arms embargo In regard to the Paraguaynn-Bolivia dispute, Sir John Simon anid "There is now reason to hope that all other Governments who have accepted the League's proposals in principle will take the necessary steps without delay".

Sir

Prior to this statement, John, answering a question, ́sold so far as he was aware, the only, Governments who had up to the prosent been actively preventing the supply of arms to the belliger anta were the British, United States. Dutch and Swiss Govern- ments.

Asked if it was not possible to go further and propose an economic boycott Sir John said. the_pràctical thing to do was to | take"ædvantage of the opportunity now offered to make the embargo they had been so long working for effective.--British Wireless.

ON THE BERLIN MUNICH TRAIN

(Continued from Page 6.) being able to come for the Sunday walk with the wife and children. they had to go on duty. Their familles had nothing of them now. since their free time-was filled with Storm Troop duties. One woman even complained that her non had to neglect his business In this way.

We had all become so engrossed In the conversation that the hours had flown by. One woman called out suddenly: "Look, look! The Nymphenburg Park. We are al- most in Munchen!" There follow- ed a big scramble for bags and a putting on of hats, and couta. "Munchen already!"

We all shook hands and anid over and over what a wonderful companionship it had been! We parted with a genuine sense of regret. One charming little episode had been closed. We might never. meet again. But the memory was there and the deepened under- standing. For us foreigners it. had been another revelation of the denr, kind heart of Germany. "A wonderful people, a great people.": wę murmured to ourselves. · "As all people, real people are great," snid our common sense.
