BRIDES IN WHITE AS USUAL

Attendants Wear Matching Clothes

By Maria Young

NEW YORK-Whatever you may have heard to the contrary, summer brides

will walk down the aisles of flower-trimmed churches this year in white....... as usual. Couturiers may tout pastels and navy blues as smart and different for the wedding gown, but after all the bride has the final word and she, you may be duro, in all for tradition at this important time in her life. i never again, Indeed, the all-white wedding is featured this year. That is, attendants' costumes as well as the bride's own gown are white, with colour introdsked by

way of slippers, hats and flowers.

Organdy is one of the nicest fabrics for the mald's gowns. If an all-white pic- ture doesn't appeal to you, you might dress the attendanta in luscious pastel shades such as ice green, sky blue or delicate apricot. And you never saw anything sweeter than the or gandy gloves to match the frocks. Not for the bride, though. Her sleeves are so long that she probably will wear very short gloves or none at all.

Satin, as always, is n favour. its for wedding gowns. But tafeta is important, too, and a bride who wishes to please the. cars as well as the eyes of the wedding gucats is apt to choose this luxurious, swish- Ing fabric. Interesting nets, novelty cottons and mousse- line are being used and these are particularly flattering to very young brides.

High necklines vie with V-shaped varieties that have intricate collar. treatments. The wedding gown shown here at the left a made of white mousseline de sole over a satin slip. The deep V neckline and the calla lily collar of double mousseline make a beautiful frame for a pretty little face. The bodice is ahirred from neckline to the high waistline and ruffies of mousseline trim the alcoves at the wrists and border the long, eirlar train. A twisted

With it is wom a twisted coronet and a short veil of marquisette. The other bridal costume (right) of shimmering white satin has a high, draped neckline and is worn with a halo cap of lace, a chin strap and a long veil of tulle.
