LESSONS IN JournalisM.

An editor is the fast word in newspaper work and for this rea- son can never be accused of speak- ing out of turn. Regrettably enough, too, he is often the last straw.

Every reporter starts by being an editor until he is pulled up; then he starts becoming a reporter and generally remains becoming.

A man of firm decision, an editor must know when to say "Whơn.” It is the lack of this decision that had ruined many n potential editor whilst still in the cup-or rather cub-stage:

It is considered ungentlemanly for the head of a newspaper to swear at his subordinates, which explains why many of them die1at their deaks from repression.
