FATALITY AT PICNIC OF BORDENERS

Tragedy marred the bathing! plenie of "C" Company, South Wales Borderers, yesterday after- noon, when Private Morris, aged 22 yents, was drowned off Stone- cutters Island. He could not wwim well.

The mishap occurred at about, 4.30 p.m. Morris was seen in dim- culties in deep water. His com- rados went to his assistance but he sunk. Having brought him ashore, artiñcial respiration was attempted for several hours, but failed to revive him.

Tho body was later removed to the military mortuary.
