THE woman who wears a 1034 summer evening dress will have a heart as light as her dancing feet. For these new little numbers are flattering beyond worda, and what girl doesn't thrill to a bit of flattery?
The moon, shimmering through the windows of the ballroom, won't be more heartbreakingly beautiful than your frock
which
may be reminiscent of the eighteenth century, definitely modern or emulative of the styles of Japanese princesses.
In the modern category come streamlined mostels and, of course, the windblown lines of Schiaparelll.
The three silhouettes named are outstand- ing in evening modes this year. You re- zemble the portrait of one of your ancestors or you look like something fresh from the Orlent or you are too, too modern for worda. Whichever design you choose, you're sure to lock perfectly grand,
L
ACE is a headliner, in the parade of formal gowns. You can have stiff Ince with an Elizabethan collar or Ince that is as soft us the pussy-willow. The vaporous materials, too, come in for a share of popu- larity,
Tulle, mousseline de soie, organdie and, chiffon are used to make the ethereal-type ROWDS. If you prefer something a little more practical, but just as fashionable, there are luscious crepes, satin, taffeta and summer velveta,
Look for printed evening gowns. And re- member that small prints in diminutive floral patterns or in intricate polka-dotted groupinge are the newest things on the market. Then, if you're in favour of borrowing an idon, or two from the cast, look for Japanese and Chinese motifs on capelets and Coalle coat wraps.
Stick to fullness below the knees. Form- fitting through waists and hips (not to mention that busts are emphasized), formal dresses flare at the knees and swirl gracefully on down to the floor.
Trains are good, too. You can have a little one that is really a more suggestion of a train or one that sweeps along for yards behind you.
OOK for covered shoulders and do try on some gowns with low necklines before you decide to stick to the high-ln-the-front, low-in-the-back mode. It may be that the former will flatter you more.
The bustle theme is stressed by designers. Sometimes it is a draped bow and again it takes the form of stiff, pleated panels that the belt and swing are fastened under loose to the hem.
Remember that accessories are important. Long white kid or lace gloves, shoos dyed to match your gown, a harmonizing bag, gos- sumer-like hose and one of those new even- ing hats sliould be included In your spring budget for formal attire. They're not awfully expensive and they do help any
frock.
