LATE MRS. H. L. LANGLEY

NOTED LADY WORKER DIES SUDDENLY

The Budden death at the Matilda- Hospital at 1 am, yesterday, from double pneumonia. of Mrs. Langley, wife of Mr. II. L. Langley, of the Naval Yard staff, will come as a shock to her large circle of friends.

In a frantic effort to reach Mr. Langley before his wife died early yesterday morning, tho Matilda Hospital authorities utilised every possible method of communicating with him.

Lantern slides were projected at the frincipal theatres, and messengers and the telephone were also used: Through ZBW, an urgent 8.0.8. was broadcast, asking listenera who knew the where abouts of Mr. Langley to Inform him that his wife's condition was dangerous.

Although Mrs. Langley Was taken on Thursday, her condi tion did not necessitate her moval to hospital until Saturday, Her husband remained with her until 5 p.m., when he left to rejoin their two children, aged 4 years and 2 years.

Mrs. Langley's condition sud- denly became dangerous at 8 p.m.. and it was then that efforts were hor made to get in touch with husband. He Wan eventually located, at his home in Kowloon Tong, at 10 p.m., and reached the hospital shortly before his wife died.

The late Mrs. Langley, who was only 31 years of age, has played a prominent part in local educational and Anglican Church affairs.

She served on the Council of St. Andrew's Church during the early part of last year, realgning when the Kowloon Tong Anglican Church was conscerated sud opened, be- coming a Committeo member of that Church. At one time she had charge of the St. Andrew's Church Young Peoples Service, and a fortnight ago, attended the Anglican synod in Canton.

The Junior Branch School of the Diocesan Girls' School was opened in September last year, and the late Mrs. Langley, who had con- siderable experience in building up, a somewhat similar school in Eng- land, expressed her willingness to become inlatress in charge of the new establishment.
