TANKERS' POOL.

PLAN TO PROTECT ALL LAID UT SHIPS

London, May 4. The tanker owners' pool, in which owners pay into a common fund a percentage of all monies received for freights is now operat. ing in Britain.

According to the plan announc ed early in March, the proceeds from the contributions of owners wil be distributed among laid up vessels, thus providing an induce- mont to owners to refrain from accepting uneconomie rates.

It la believed that the, amount paid into the pool is 10 to 16 per cent, on cargo.

The principal owners of tanker vessels approved the plan and it has commenced operation only re- cently.--Reuter,
